Forum “Nordic Summer” – on Attraction of Literature
25 August 2005
When the calendar-summer is ending, it’s to be replaced by the Nordic summer. On August 26-28 International Contemporary Literature Forum “Nordic Summer” will take place in Vilnius and Jurbarkas. This forum is going to focus on literature and it’s interpretation.

baltcultfundThe forum will consist of seminars and discussions, screenings of Nordic and Baltic short films and studies of their plots and texts, literature and jazz evenings.

“Nordic Summer” is going to gather writers, historians, critics, publishers and others, working in the fields of literature and culture. The Nordic countries will be represented by the Finnish author Anja Snellman and the Swedish cultural and media producer Asa Steinsvik.

According to the project author, Giedra Radvilaviciute, it’s quite difficult to describe what attraction of text is about. On the one hand, there are only black letters on a white sheet of paper. But on the other hand, they are able to change our convictions, our lives and to be the greatest pleasure at the same time. And in the reality nothing is happening. There are only black letters on a white sheet of paper.

The organiser of the forum is Baltic Cultural Fund.
