Stuff and rubbish found on the sea shore can be used as material for original works of art, and cleaning the sea shore can be fun. That’s the opinion of children who took part in the workshop EcoArt. Together with professional designers they realized the most exotic ideas that will be presented on May 26 in the Exhibition Hall of the City of Klaipeda, Lithuania.

In April six groups of children started cleaning the sea shore and collected the stuff they found. Later these things were tied up, fastened and hammered together and they turned into object that can be used in everyday life. Every object has one or two functions, which will be presented in live performance by the authors during the opening of the exhibition on May 26. The best object will be selected by a special experts commission. Afterwards the band Sefed will take the floor.
“Sometimes one original idea is enough to make cleaning of the sea shore into a fun event and a source of artistic inspiration. Children were full of energetic ideas and we ran out of rubbish. Even the names of the created objects tell a lot: “Hippie Bike” or “Love Draught”, - designer Anatolijus Klemencovas comments the results of the workshop.

This workshop aims to stress that ecology can be combined with art, and this combination can encourage children to take care of the environment and the sea. The workshop gathered nearly 70 children; they worked together with well-known Lithuanian designers.
